Quick Answers
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a global, standardized English language proficiency test. IELTS is owned jointly by the British Council, IDP IELTS Australia, and Cambridge English Language Assessment.
IELTS tests the four skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
Both. IELTS offers a paper-based test as well as a computer-delivered test for listening, reading, and writing sections. You can choose either one or another. The Speaking test is a face-to-face interview with an examiner.
There are two IELTS tests: Academic and General. IELTS Academic is taken by internationally educated students who wish to attend a university course in an English speaking country or those people wishing to join a professional body in the fields such as law, medicine, education, arts, sciences, and government services.
IELTS General is mainly taken for immigration purposes.
Please go to www.IELTS.org to find a test location.
IELTS releases the results 13 days after you complete the test.
